My friend Tim

I was in the mood to do something completely different this week, so I had my friend from high school Tim on the Exit Five podcast.

I'm exploring a new sub-segment of the podcast called "Outside of Work" where I talk to people about other things.

Tim is one of my best friends from back in the day, and we talk about his love for running, my love for golf, how those hobbies have given us a bunch of joy and purpose outside of work - and there's a lot of unfiltered Dave G not talking about marketing on there that I hope you enjoy listening to.

We also talk about the Boston Marathon and Tim's career in sports media at 98.5 the Sports Hub, which is the top local sports radio station in the country.

A break from marketing is needed sometimes, and I might explore doing more of this every now and then on the podcast.

Reminder: Focus Is How You'll Win With Content

For 2023 --> think of depth instead of breadth. Not just in the quality of the content you're producing, but the channels. I see too many companies with 117 views on YouTube videos, 219 followers on Instagram, a podcast 100 people listen to, and a new TikTok account with 74 followers. What is the point!? Find one core channel, make it wildly successful, then you can expand.
